Teen Celebrity Reveals Her Secret Regret

celebrity secret Jamie McKay“16 and Pregnant” star Jamie McKay admitted to her followers via twitter that she had an abortion, not a miscarriage, and now feels she made a mistake but can’t take it back.  Jamie posted an ultrasound of her baby with the message, “Rest in peace little angel.  September 17, 2012.”  This was followed up by several tweets saying: Thank you for the love and support but I want you to know I did not miscarry. I chose abortion.  I chose it out of fear.I feel like I made a mistake and I can't take it back. I have had this in my heart and it has been very hard on me. I was afraid to be judged by my Family, my mother, even my dad. So I did it before they could find out. I should have looked into my options more but I didn't.

Unfortunately, Jamie is joining thousands of other girls who have had abortions to hide it from their families without thinking it all the way through or checking out all their options.

I made a mistake…
I can’t take it back…

It has been very hard on me…
I was afraid to be judged…
I should have looked into my options…

The exact same words under very similar circumstances. But it's too late. Abortion is permanent, and there's no turning back. At the same time, all of this could have been prevented with just one thing - knowledge.

Knowledge of what they were getting into, knowledge of how they'd feel after the fact, knowledge of all the options available to them, knowledge that people aren't as judgmental as they might think. And all this knowledge is just a click away. Dozens of websites offer this kind of information to pregnant teens so they can make a truly informed decision and not have to deal with the regret. It's simply a matter of Googling abortion, pregnancy symptoms, or similar keywords.

Stories by girls who made a hasty abortion decision without this knowledge can be read on www.teenbreaks.com or the blog www.teenabortionissues.com. It always helps to get the perspective of someone who has been there, done that as well. It's too late for Jamie, but it's not too late for other girls who may be or may find themselves in similar situations. Knowledge is power, so make sure you have all the facts before making a life-changing decision.
